Embroidered Turtle in Vintage Teak Double Bowl | Blue

***PLEASE NOTE: this vintage frame has a hairline crack on the edge of the lower bowl and some markings on the inside of the upper bowl that I was not able to sand out.  The frame is secure and beautiful, but know that those details do exist and are shown in some up close photos in this listing.

Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!).  Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.

Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this amazing turtle!

I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and used a stunning, rare double bowl (I've been holding onto this piece for years to find the right project for it!) as the outer frame. This bowl was so fun to play with to paint in a way that felt like the extra bit of magic that this cool turtle needed to swim in.

I painted the interior a rich, delicious blue to really showcase the turtle and give it a forever pool of blue water to soak in.

It turned out so fun + I am in LOVE!

*Teak outer frame is a used, vintage piece, which means it may have signs of wear and tear that only add to the story of the overall piece.
