Embroidered Whale in Oversized Vintage Teak Frame

Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!).  Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.

Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this amazing whale!

I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and used a stunning, oversized vintage Teak bowl as the outer frame. This bowl is larger than the usual vintage bowls I work with, but felt like the extra bit of magic and space that this cool whale needed to swim in.

The center is a very serene, shimmery blue to really showcase the whale and give it a forever pool to soak in.

It turned out so fun + I am in LOVE!

*Teak outer frame is a used, vintage piece, which means it may have signs of wear and tear that only add to the story of the overall piece.  

** It's best to hang your fiber art piece in a place that doesn't get direct sun and I don't recommend touching the fibers.
