Embroidered Striped Fish in Rare Double Sided Teak Frame
Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!). Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.
Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this amazing fish shape that I helped design!
I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and added fun pink stripes. I used a stunning, rare Teak bowl (in the coolest double sided shape) as the outer frame. This bowl was so fun to play with to paint in a way that felt like the extra bit of magic that this cool fish needed to swim in.
I painted the interior a shimmery, tropical ocean green (think turquoise waters) to really showcase the fish and give it a forever pool of dreamy water to soak in.
FUN FACT: I made a piece like this cutie for myself last year and love it SO MUCH that I had to make another for someone else to get to have the same feels in their own home. We will have sibling fish. Mine is named Bob.
*Teak outer frame is a used, vintage piece, which means it may have signs of wear and tear that only add to the story of the overall piece.
** It's best to hang your fiber art piece in a place that doesn't get direct sun and I don't recommend touching the fibers.
