Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!).  Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.

Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this amazing fish shape that I helped design!

I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and added fun, multi-tone blue stripes.  I used a stunning, rare Teak bowl (in the coolest double sided shape) as the outer frame. This bowl was so fun to play with to paint in a way that felt like the extra bit of magic that this cool fish needed to swim in.

I painted the interior a shimmery, tropical ocean blue up top (think turquoise waters) to really showcase the fish and give it a forever pool of dreamy water to soak in and a more dreamy sea-green on the bottom to add a little extra detail and pop of color.

I've been holding onto this vintage piece for years and years waiting for the best piece to use it for and this was definitely the right one.  Its a really beautiful wood and has lovely edged details throughout.

*Teak outer frame is a used, vintage piece, which means it may have signs of wear and tear that only add to the story of the overall piece.  It came to me with green felt attached to the back side.  It won't be seen when your piece hangs on the wall, but there are pictures of it just so you aren't surprised when it shows up with a green back!

** It's best to hang your fiber art piece in a place that doesn't get direct sun and I don't recommend touching the fibers.
