Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!). Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.
Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this stunning 2 tone owl!
I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and used dark, vintage Teak bowl as the outer frame. I love how the dark teak of the outer frame helps accent that dark face of the owl.
I painted the center a shimmery, silver-y periwinkle to really showcase the colors stitched into the owl and love how soothing this whole piece turned out.
