Embroidered Hummingbird in Vintage Flower Frame

Years ago, I made some embroidered brooches in these beautiful wooden frames sourced from a couple who makes them by hand (!!!).  Although I loved them, I hadn't made more after that first batch.

Now I'm playing with some of their newer frames - like this amazing hummingbird!

I stitched the center in my favorite French Knots and used a truly special vintage flower bowl to pull it all together. Plus, the shimmery green-ish background feels like the perfect permanent sky for this hummingbird and pulls directly from some of the colors mixed into the knots of the body.The flower shaped bowl is a huge cherry on top of an already yummy Sundae!

*Teak outer frame is a used, vintage piece, which means it may have signs of wear and tear that only add to the story of the overall piece.  

** It's best to hang your fiber art piece in a place that doesn't get direct sun and I don't recommend touching the fibers.
